April 22nd we will once again be celebrating Earth Day. This year I would like to highlight this special day with a unique “Art Contest“, drawing attention to the environmental concerns faced across the world. It’s a great time to find out how you and your kids can help make the world a better, safer place – not only for today, but for future generations as well!
Children have endless imaginations and I would love them to use it and create a memorable masterpiece representing Earth with its landscape and animal world. Include a positive and negative influence of humans on it and what you think can be done better to take care of it.
Your artwork should not exceed 18″ x 24″ in size and you can use any medium to create it: watercolours, pencil crayons, sketch, oil pastels, acrylics etc., on paper, canvas, wooden board etc.
Each artwork needs to be signed in block letters at the back with the full name of the artist, age, parents/guardian name, address, and telephone number. Age group eligible for submission is 6 to 12 years old.
Please drop off your artwork at Art Studio Guelph 139 Kemp Cres. Business hours are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm weekdays and 10:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday. You can always call or text 6479813355 to let us know that you are coming.
There are 3 prizes founded by Art Studio Guelph.

1st place: One season of art class (8 lessons) as per our regular Art schedule.
2nd place: Artist’s Loft necessities set case and small table easel.
3rd place: Royal sketching set case and sketch book.
Submission deadline is 15th of April by noon. All artworks will be judged by 3 independent artists and art curators who were invited by Art Studio Guelph for collaboration: Yulia Balobanova: who specializes in pastels, watercolors, and sketching and also offers fantastic art classes in South Guelph; Brenda Walsh: coordinator who works on art projects around Children’s Foundation on a daily basis and Laurel McKellar Senior Director at The Museum in Kitchener.
The winners will be announced on Earth Day 22nd of April at noon by the Social Media and you will be able to find an update on www.artstudioguelph.com.
Later that week on 26th of April all artwork will be displayed and put up for a sale for a flat fee $20 each. 10% from all sale will be donated to the City of Guelph Clean and Green program and remaining funds will be returned to the artists. Unsold artwork can be picked up by the end of the Art Show. All unclaimed artwork will be donated to Art Studio Guelph and Children’s Foundation. The event will start at 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and around 6 pm prices for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be handed over to the winners. Art Show is organized at Immigrant Services – Guelph Wellington, 104 Dawson Road, #102.
Please save the date and invite family and friends to celebrate the young artist’s hard work and achievements.
